We close the doors on the hugely successful inaugural event held by ArtConTex at the Minories, Colchester, at the beginning of October. The number of visitors surpassed our expectations, and we were overwhelmed by their enthusiastic response.
Twenty textile artists and groups were chosen to encompass the breadth of contemporary textiles in Essex and Suffolk, and they certainly STITCHED UP THE MINORIES!
The event was curated to showcase groups that came under the umbrella of the old Embroiderers' Guild network, as well as the exquisite traditional silk embroidery of Helen M. Stevens and groups with over 40 years of exhibiting experience, to those exhibiting for the first time. Individual artists ranged from the conceptual art of Sue Gascoyne to the quilt art of Sara Impey, who has work in museum collections.
