The Minories is located in Colchester’s cultural quarter at No. 74 High Street, alongside Firstsite, Hollytrees, the Castle and the Natural History Museum. They are based in a Grade II listed historical building and are currently only partially wheelchair accessible. If you need any advice in advance that you cannot find on this website please contact them and they will be happy to help.

ON FOOT
The Minories is at the end of Colchester’s High Street, towards East Hill, and can also be reached via a walkway off Queen Street, by the Curzon Cinema, or via Lewis Gardens.
BY BIKE
Cycle racks are available in Lewis Gardens outside Firstsite.
BY TRAIN
The Minories is an 8-minute walk from Colchester Town Station, which has direct trains to London Liverpool Street (55 minutes), Colchester mainline station (5 minutes), and the wider Tendring area. The Colchester mainline station is a 25-minute walk or 5-minute bus to the Minories, taxis are also available from outside the station.
BY BUS & COACH
The Minories is located at the end of the High Street, which is served by many local bus services. The closest stops are Greyfriars (Ha and Hb), served by the Number 1, 2, 87 and 104. Colchester bus station is located a short 5-minute walk away on Osborne Street, where almost all buses serving the town centre stop.
BY CAR
The Minories is committed to sustainability and would like to encourage their visitors to travel by foot, bike or public transport where possible. They have no on-site parking other than for disabled visitors. Please get in touch if you would like to arrange to use their disabled parking.
There are several car parks in Colchester town centre, our closest car parks are on Priory Street and Greyfriars Hotel car park via Castle Road.
FACILITIES
WHEELCHAIR ACCESSIBILITY
Their gardens and part of the ground floor of the building, including the cafe and toilets, are accessible with a wheelchair via their step-free entrance on Lewis Gardens. The upper floor is not currently accessible via wheelchair, however, they are working on this within the constraints of a listed building.
TOILETS
There are gender-neutral and accessible toilets available on the ground floor, and baby changing is available.
FOOD & DRINK
The cafe is located on the ground floor at the rear of the building. They serve freshly prepared food and hot and cold drinks. You can find out more on the Catering page here.
FIRST AID
There are first aid boxes located around the building and the staff are trained in emergency first aid.
